About

I’m Danni Schou, a Game Programmer, currently studying at the IT University of Copenhagen for a masters degree in Games Technology. Since I was a kid, I have been interested in creating games, and through the years I’ve created a lot of games, prototypes and engines, both as a part of my education and in my spare time. The most interesting projects are featured on the Games page.

Background
I have a B.Eng. in Communication and Information Technology, and I’m proficient in C#, C++ and Java, as well as web development in PHP. I also have experience with both Unity3D and XNA. When I was 16, I wrote my own web avatar chat from scratch, and I’ve kept working on game related projects, to learn as much as I can about game development and keep expanding my horizon.

Inspiration
I have a great passion for games, and being able to create the games of my dreams and making a living of it, is my ultimate goal. Some of my biggest inspirations are people from the indie scene, like Jonathan Blow (Braid) and Markus Persson (Minecraft). Danish companies like IO Interactive (Hitman) and Playdead (Limbo), showing that even though Denmark doesn’t have a huge game development scene it is still possible to break through. I’m highly inspired to see creative and unique gameplay, and with the newer alternatives to the traditional distribution methods, people like me will be able to more easily get their game released and be seen by others.

Favorites
I’ve always enjoyed diversity between games and played a lot of different games and genres. If I had to pick one genre that stands out for me as my favorite, it would be platformers. Specially Naughty Dog with Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, and Insomniac Games with Ratchet and Clank. The Portal series has also quickly become a favorite of mine with its ingenius gameplay and design. To round up I’ll just list a lot of the games and franchises I like playing: Grand Theft Auto, Assasins Creed, Sly Cooper, Infamous, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, God of War, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Diablo and StarCraft. These are some of the games that comes to my mind and theres obviously a ton more great games out there, I also enjoy playing.

Future
For the next year I still have to finish my studies, and I’m working hard to create games both in my spare time and in my studies. I have a few games that I’m working on at the moment, and I will update this site with more information about them as they progress.
